Sam Matthews has spent his life immersed in the creative industries — as an actor, performer and artist — and in this session he will share how that long-standing creative practice gradually led him to photography as both a personal and visual language.
Drawing on his experience as a wildlife photographer, Sam will speak about creativity as a lifelong process, how photography became a way of seeing, reflecting and refining that process, and how his work has developed through entering competitions and responding to critique.
The evening will combine a short illustrated talk with a hands-on feedback session, focusing on image development and presentation within the context of contemporary photographic competitions. While Sam’s own practice centres on wildlife and birds, members are welcome to submit images from related genres such as wildlife, landscape or anything which is not studio-lit work.
