Welcome to the Hampstead Photographic Society

Mike Shellim - "Silhouettes, Primrose Hill"

Established in 1937, the Hampstead Photographic Society is Northwest London's premier photographic club. The Society welcomes anyone with an interest in photography, from beginners to professionals.

Corona virus

Following government advice, our regular meetings have been suspended until further notice. Instead, we are using the Zoom videoconferencing service to continue our activites - and it's proving very successful! All fully paid-up members can join these meetings - details are posted on the Yahoogroup.

We still welcome new members. From March the cost of the 13 remaining meetings is just £35, and you can pay this on-line.

Our Programme

The core of our programme is a series of talks by outside speakers, covering diverse topics such as photojournalism, the art of photography, urban/street photography, and travel photography.

We also hold regular competitions, judged by external specialists. These give members a chance to show their work, and have it assessed.

Several HPS members are highly expert in digital photography, and we hold regular talks on digital techniques using our own digital projector.

Finally, we also hold informal Members’ evenings where members can exchange ideas and obtain advice.

Our season runs from September to June.
